Neglected computer

Mike’s neighbor is switching his T1 service from MCI to someone else, and in doing so, he’ll be drastically reducing his address space from a /24 down to a /29. This means that while Mike gets to keep the neighborhood network up, the entire thing is going to be behind a firewall doing NAT, instead of just part of it, as it is now. And because he’s losing his 10 publicly-routable IP addresses, I don’t get free co-location anymore.

So today I drove out and picked up the server I had over there. Once I started it up here I realized that it’s probably a good thing that I got it because the CPU fan is very obviously on its last legs. It was living in Mike’s garage before, so the noise was never noticed. Oops.
