I’ve been using del.icio.us since last April, but really sporadically, typically only posting things as reminders to myself, which I’ll see in my RSS reader later. But recently I decided to make an effort to both use it more often, and to write better descriptions of the things I do post there. The plan ultimately called for integrating this information into my own site in some way.
Right after deciding this, I discovered and signed up for a beta account with Ma.gnolia, who opened to the public just a few days later. Ma.gnolia is similar to del.icio.us, but with the addition of contact lists and groups. It’s also a hell of a lot easier on the eyes. It can import bookmarks from similar services, including del.icio.us, so I’ve moved everything over and will be using this one now.
I think there’s a lot of value in systems like this so, like I said, I’m going to try to remember to use it regularly. Not only to post URLs, but also to look at what other people are posting, which is something I rarely do now.
