A cat lover’s guide to the cats of Essex Street in Berkeley.

When we lived in Berkeley I used to walk up Essex St.. every day on my way home from BART. There were six cats that lived on the same part of the block. Most were friendly and one, a little black cat, would come out to meet me on the sidewalk every day when she saw me coming.
